Information Service

A carer is someone who is helping a relative, friend, parent or partner with an illness or disability.  The responsibilities of caring for someone can, at times, be difficult and the stress sometimes considerable.  Looking after someone may involve strenuous physical tasks or problems.  Sometimes carers can become exhausted by their caring role and feel as though they have been forgotten and left to cope on their own.

Also many people do not recognise themselves as Carers and therefore do not even realise that there is help and support out there, which, rather than diminish the willingness with which they care, can in fact enhance this and improve the lives of both themselves and the person for whom they care.

All carers have the right to support.  There are often no quick or easy answers to their problems but the right information about available support services can help.

Someone who will listen and who understands the frustrations and difficulties of caring can also make all the difference.

Our service is free and confidential and The Carers Support Service Information Worker operates throughout the western area of West Sussex (working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) visiting various venues throughout the area and is also available on the phone, at the office or by email.

As well as providing information on a variety of services both locally and nationally the Information Worker can tell you all that the Carers Support Service offers in support of the carers in the western area of West Sussex. The Information Worker also gives talks and cancer awareness training to groups and organisations.
